Conscious comments

As Leaders, the comments we make, the feedback we provide, have significant impact on the business performance.

A study found that the ratio of positive comments (eg: I agree with that, That’s a terrific idea) to negative comments (eg: That won’t work, I don’t agree with you) was 5.6 (ie. more than 5 positive comments for every negative one) for high-performing teams.

The ratio was 1.9 for medium-performing teams, and 0.36 for low-performing teams (that is, almost three negative comments for every positive one).

What’s my ratio? As a Leader, could I move consciously towards a 5:1?
